Help us reach our goal: A new sound system for The Palace!

Spur’s 1929 Palace Theater has come a long way in recent years, successfully reopening in 2018 to show movies in digital format.

Despite the setbacks of Covid-19 closures and destructive weather events, the theater, under the management of the Dickens County Historical Commission, has pushed forward, steadily making repairs and improvements with the help of local donors and grant-making agencies.

The theater was also the beneficiary of a $12,000 grant from Humanities Texas to support cultural programming and promotions—but these funds, stemming from the federal American Rescue Plan Act, don’t address equipment or capital needs.

At the invitation of the Community Foundation of West Texas, the Palace will be participating in the 2022 #GivingTuesday initiative, to raise money for an updated sound system that fully supports movies and live events.

The DCHC invites friends of the Palace to consider pledges throughout November.

From Nov. 1 through Nov. 29, 2022, the Community Foundation of West Texas will amplify your gift with a portion of donations thanks to United Supermarkets.
